Home Depot sells junk to their customers!

I remodeled my kitchen and two bathrooms a year an half ago. I bought new cabinets, replaced toilets, installed marble counter tops, a new stove and fridge, new molding and paint. We spent thousands of dollars on the project. We also replaced our backyard fence. Our house sits on ¼ acre so you can image the cost of the lumber. We were loyal customers to Home Depot.

Three weeks ago my husband noticed that one of our cabinets was coming off of the wall. I placed a call to Andrea at the San Bernardino Home Depot on Hospitality lane as she was the person that helped us with everything. She called the installer and had him come out to remount the cabinet. Upon inspection the contractors stated that it wasn’t a faulty install but rather the cabinets themselves were falling apart. He took pictures and reported back to Andrea. The cabinets we replaced had been in the house for over 40 years and were still in one piece when they were taken off of the wall. Isn't that the life span for cabinets? I have never heard of them falling apart or coming off the wall and after only a year and a half? Anyway, Andrea called RSI (the manufacturers of the cabinets), and explained the problem. RSI said they would send someone out to inspect our cabinets. In the meantime, everything from those cabinets was sitting on our counter tops. I was afraid the whole thing would fall so I emptied them and we put a temporary mount ( a cutting board) to hold the cabinets up. We waited four days with no response from RSI. My husband told me that Andrea called wanting to know the status of our cabinets. I called her immediately because as far as I was concerned, this was Home Depot’s responsibility to follow up and I was waiting to hear back from her as to what the next step would be. We wrote the checks to Home Depot, that’s who should be responsible. She told me that they were just the “middle men” and that it was my responsibility to follow up and make sure someone came out to check on our cabinets. Needless to say, I was furious. I placed a call to the corporate office along with a letter to the store manager. Nearly three weeks go by, in this time frame two people had already determined that we purchased faulty cabinets. I received a call back from Annie at Home Depot at the end of the third week who stated they were trying to work out a deal with RSI to split the cost. She asked if I could give her until Monday at 10am and she would have an answer for me. Monday at 10am came and went with no word from Annie so I placed another call to Home Depot. I was told she was off for the day. Why would she give me a day and time when she would call if she knew she wasn’t going to be working? I asked to speak with another manager. After speaking with a few people and explaining myself I was told someone would call me back and they did. I was told that Home Depot would take care of my cabinets and RSI would put $100 towards the reinstall.

When the contractor came out to replace the cabinets he made a comment that there had been other issues with the same cabinets we bought. My thoughts were, if Home Depot knew this product was crap, why are they continuing to sell it? The contractor left the faulty cabinets for us to dispose of. Really?? My husband put them in the garage until we figured out what to do with them. My cabinets were replaced so I wasn’t going to stress anymore about it.

On Friday we received a letter from RSI, actually it was a waiver. It stated that since they applied $100 dollars towards the reinstall of the cabinets, they shouldn’t be held responsible if anything else happens to the rest of the products we bought from RSI thru Home Depot. What??? You’ve got to be joking was my first thought. I put the letter aside and enjoyed my weekend.

Today I received a call from Lisa Bazon from Home Depot. She told me that I needed to bring the faulty cabinets into their stores so they can be reimbursed. Wait, if they needed the faulty cabinets why didn’t the installer take them with him? According to Lisa, that wasn’t his responsibility but rather it was mine. I told her if she wanted to get her cabinets they were in my garage. They could send a person anytime. She then asked if I had received the paperwork from RSI. I told her what I received was a waiver and that I wasn’t signing it. She told me that if I didn’t sign it that I was responsible for the $100 dollars RSI had applied towards the cabinet reinstall. Hold everything!!! Home Depot sold me crap cabinets that they had other complaints about. Home depot also made me go three weeks before there was resolution over $100 dollars reimbursement and now they want me to not only deliver them the old cabinets but pay them $100 dollars?? You must be joking!! After all of the money we spent with Home Depot, this is how they treat their customers? Shame on them and RSI for taking advantage of the consumer that works so hard for their money.

If you want quality products I suggest you shop elsewhere. I will never spend another dollar at Home Depot. If you cant back your products, you shouldn’t be selling them!

GE Money AKA Care Credit is a scam!

I went to the dentist a year ago for a cleaning. I had not been in a while and thought it was time to get checked out. I went to Brookside Dental in Redlands, California. After taking X-rays it was brought to my attention that I needed a couple of crowns because some teeth were allegedly cracked. After the dentist made that determination, a girl with the price break down came in to tell me the cost of the work that needed to be done. Over $1000 dollars and that was after my insurance. Wow, I didn't have that kind of money so she conveniently suggested I use Care Credit. I hate the dentist to begin with. All I wanted to do was get my teeth cleaned and get out. She did her smooth talk and before I knew it, I had signed a contract with Care Credit aka GE Money to finance my dental work. I wonder if the dentists get kick backs from the amount of patients they can over price and reel in for companies like this.

I have been paying my monthly amount for the past year. This month, I paid them a week late, that's 7 days. Sometimes the due date doesn't fall on a pay day. I just got a new bill from them today and they not only charged me $35 dollars late fee, they charged me $417.77 interest on a $1900 dollar balance. Now, rather than having my payment applied and bringing the total down, I was charged $452 dollars. My new balance is $2345.41 and I paid them $75.00 to begin with. My interest rate is 26.99. How is this legal? I plan on doing some investigation because I believe what they are doing is fraudulent. I know a law was just passed to protect the consumer against credit card companies. I plan to find out.

When you go to the doctors they never try to up sell you on medical procedures, why is it that dental offices get away with this type of practice? Redland's Dental charged twice what most dentists charge for routine work. My Metlife insurance covers $1250 per year and not a penny more. What's the point of having insurance at all if you have to apply for credit just to see the dentist? This system is definitely broke and someone needs to step in a stop these companies from feeding off of innocent people just because they want to stay healthy. I ended up only getting one crown from that dentist and went to another one for the second one. To this day, the original crowned tooth gives me problems. The second one I had done for half the price was a piece of cake.

DO NOT USE GE MONEY OR CARE CREDIT FOR FINANCING. You will be sorry. I know I am.

Addendum:

This morning I called GE Money to find out about the bogus charges added to my account. I wanted to know where in the world they came up with a $417 dollar finance charge on a $1900 dollar balance. The answer, because I didnt pay off my loan in a year. It was the finance charge for the whole year. I guess my loan was on a deferred finance program???? Let me also state when I applied for the loan, the girl selling the product did not inform me of this. GE money told me the information regarding the deferred finance was posted on my monthly statement but because I paid my bill on line, I didnt read the fine print. My thoughts on the matter, if you are going to set someone up for a loan that must be paid off in a year, set up the payments so that the amount you are paying will actually pay off the loan IN A YEAR. Buyer beware...read the fine print and KNOW what you are signing.

I was pretty angry until I went into work and read my e-mail. GE money had read my article and wanted to help. I forwarded my personal information and was contacted via phone by Dawn from their Media/Finance department. I dont like bill collectors. I dont know how they can do their jobs and sleep at night. However, Dawn was very nice and professional. She removed the finance charge and changed the monthly due date so that I wont be late again. I am still not a fan of GE Money. If I had it to do over, I would have lived with the cracked tooth. Dont let dentists like the ones at Brookside Dental wheel you in to unnecessary procedures that are over priced and not fully covered by your insurance. You shouldnt have to take out a loan to fix a cracked tooth.

Parents of a stubborn child can find it exasperating. They will obstinately refuse to do what they’re told and defy discipline with a steely determination. What most people fail to see is how stubbornness can be a positive attribute. There are many ways headstrong children can have an advantage over the more docile counterparts. 1. Perseverance – A stubborn child is going to be much better at accomplishing difficult tasks because they have perseverance. If at first they don’t succeed they will keep trying until they get the results they desire. This is a great advantage over other children who tend to give up easily.
2. Can’t be bullied – Childhood bullies have gotten to be a big problem, so stubbornness can give a kid the toughness they need to stand up for themselves. No playground bully is going to push them around. The defiance they show to their parents easily translates to other situations, so the local bully doesn’t stand a chance.
3. Mental fortitude – This toughness will also help kids to develop the strong mental fortitude they need as they grow from childhood to adults. Mental toughness will help them to succeed in many aspects of their lives and make it easier for them to cope with stress or traumatic events. The demands of college, the military or a prestigious career are more easily met by the people who used to be stubborn kids.
4. Schoolwork – Children who give up easily are going to have a harder time learning difficult problems in their schoolwork than those who are more resolute. Whether this results in getting better grades depends on each child’s mental capabilities, but stubbornness can be an advantage to even learning disabled children. Teachers and parents should encourage stubborn kids to channel their determination into their homework.

Cell phones are now the number one form of communication for teenagers. In 2010 at least 85% of 15 to 18 year olds had cell phones, nearly 70% of 11 to 14 year olds and a third of 8 to 10 year olds. With this powerful new technology in their conniving little hands, kids are learning how to use it to take advantage of their parents. Some kids don’t know how to take “no” for an answer and are finding new ways to get what they want. Here are 10 ways kids use cell phones to badger their parents.

1. Calling – The first technique used to badger their parents is constant calling. This can be very annoying, especially during work. Parents don’t want to be accused of not taking calls from their own children, so this can really get out of hand in a hurry.
2. Texting – If a parent stops taking their calls, the next avenue the kids will take to badger them is texting. Since they already text 15 times more than making calls, this comes naturally to kids. They can take badgering to new heights by sending one word messages like; Please…please….can…I….GO!!!!…Please….please….please!!!!
3. Voicemails – Once parents learn to ignore the text badgering, the next step is unlimited voicemail messages. Imagine checking your voicemail and finding out you have 75 new voice mail messages. You have to go through them all to sort out any important ones while listening to all the ones with your kid whining.
4. Emails – By this time you’ve shut off your cell phone and are trying to get some work done on the computer. Kids with email capabilities on their cell phones won’t hesitate to use them to get their parents attention. Soon your inbox is flooded with messages from your kids bugging you about their latest issue.
5. Tweeting – If you allow your child to have a twitter access on their phone, this is another way they can badger you. You have to follow their tweets to monitor what they’re up to and can get pummeled with constant tweets about how you’re the worst parent ever for not letting them do what they want.
6. Sending pictures – Next thing you know, your kids are bombarding you with pictures of all their friends that are going to the latest concert. After that comes a variety of pictures with your child making sad faces. The situation has elevated into a whole new level of harassment with the help of a camera phone.
7. Annoying ring tones – If all other efforts have failed, and you have a particularly inventive child, they can change the ring tone of their phone to attack you. Every time someone calls your kid the phone now says, “My mommy is mean”. This takes badgering to an all time low.
8. Playing games – Another tactic your child may try is to annoy the heck out of you by constantly playing games on their cell phone whenever you approach. This is a form of reverse-badgering that is known to work in some extreme cases.
9. Enlist friends – Kids never hesitate to enlist the help of friends to manipulate their parents. They can give out your cell phone number to all their buddies and have them bombard you with all the badgering tactics already mentioned.
10. Hang up – If your children want to be particularly annoying they can keep calling your cell phone and hang up when you answer. Of course this is typical childish behavior that shouldn’t be tolerated (but they are kids after all…).

Using cell phones to badger them isn’t something most parents think of when they get the phones for their kids. They want their children to be able to contact them in an emergency and be able to let them know if there’s a change of plans or if their running late. The most important thing to remember when getting cell phones for your kids is to establish firm ground rules to begin with and make sure they’re enforced. Don’t give them a new tool they can use to manipulate you. Kids will use badgering to get their way, especially if they find out it works. Stay strong and never let them find a week spot or you’re doomed.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

Someone sent this to me in an e-mail and I wanted to share it. I think we could definitely put a dent in the budget if we followed these guidelines:

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.

8. There should be a salary cap.

9. Term limits for Senate and Congress because our founding fathers did not intend for Senators and Congressman to have lifetime appointments! Feinstein has been in office for how long????

TSA is out of control!

We just returned from our 2 week vacation to Maui. It was our anniversary present to each other that started out with a traumatizing experience in the airport. I have never had a problem traveling before but that has changed. I find myself having a full blown anxiety attack when I know I am about to go thru a TSA check point in an airport. Am I a criminal? No! Do they make you feel like one? ABSOLUTELY! Since when is it OK to feel up a 70 year old woman? I watched in shock as a female TSA employee searched a woman in the Maui airport. I think she was singled out because she was wearing a dress. Heaven forbid! She made that woman spread her legs and felt all the way up to her crotch, around her butt, and under her breasts. This woman wasnt a terrorist. She was a person that came to Maui for vacation. What gives these people the right to molest anyone? Did you see the video of that 5 year old child being searched? Seriously?

I can understand a search of someone that might spike your interest. For no reason at all is a crime in my eyes. I understand not every criminal looks like your average "Joe" but I can safely say children should be exempt. What message are we sending our kids if we allow a stranger to feel their private parts while we stand by and watch? What gives any of those people at TSA the right to take our rights away? I am appalled by the whole situation. Let's not forget the X-ray machines that allow a stranger to see you naked. We werent fortunate enough to experience that on our travels but I did witness it coming back.

We pay the airlines so that we can go on our dream vacations. However, we are invaded and made to feel like criminals before the fun even begins! Not to mention, United airlines wanted to charge us $100 dollars per suitcase because we were 5 pounds over the weight limit on each. We paid $25 per bag before our journey started. I think the prices we pay for airline travel should more than cover our ability to take clothes with us. And forget it if you have a question for anyone at one of the terminals in the airport. I watched a United airlines employee snap at a woman that had questions regarding her flight. Im sorry, if you cant handle the job find another place to work. These people are there to assist us with our travel needs. I have yet to find one friendly face when I walk up to any given terminal. I am disgusted by our whole travel experience. The vacation itself was amazing but the traveling I could have completely done without.

SHAME ON YOU TSA. May you experience in your life what you put each of us through. You are abusing your power and made me feel like the witness to a sick perverted fantasy. I didnt feel one bit safer on my trip, instead I felt like a victim to a system that is way out of control. There needs to be a better way. Innocent until proven guilty. That's the law and I dont remember giving away my rights. As Thomas Jefferson once wrote,"If you trade your freedom for security, you end up with neither."

Eat Pray Love

I just finished a fabulous book by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's the story of a woman in her early thirties that had everything a modern American woman was supposed to want. She had a husband, a beautiful country home, and she was successful. Instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed by panic and confusion. She set out on a journey that took her across the world for a year. She ate in Italy while learning the language, prayed in India while perfecting meditation with self discipline, and experienced the essence of love not only for herself but others while living in Indonesia.

I found myself consumed the minute I started to read. It was as though I took the journey with her. My husband bought me both the book and movie for Christmas. I didn't want to watch the story first but rather experience what she went through on a deeper level. Now, I cant wait to see the movie! Eat Pray Love is a must read for all women! Kudos to you Elizabeth, you did a great job.

I received a letter the other day from a reader with some interesting information about RJB. I wanted to re-post his e-mail in my blog. This information may help some of you in your quest to reclaim your life and child support accounts back:

Hi Lori,
I wanted to respond to your blog about support kids now being handled by RJ boudreau and associates. I worked for this collection agency for a very short time and what I saw was tons of illegal actions by the collectors. The trainer would tell you how to get away with threatening law suits on people which you are not suppose to do by the FDCPA Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I left there and actually reported them to the FTC. There have been tons of law suits against this company and they just pay settlements to get out of them. Support kids using them is just a sign of how bad this company really is.

I never even saw a paycheck from them either. My friends husband worked for them for a bit and they tried to get out of giving him his last check as well. Its a very corrupt company like many collection agencies are. RJB obviously was the cheapest that support kids could contract with. I couldn't see them using that agency for any other reason.

It's sad that companies take advantage of parents who are trying to get help. I knew the way they did business was illegal, this just confirms it.

District Attorney vs. Supportkids

After 16 years of battling the system, it finally worked! I was informed 4 months ago that I was going to get the back child support that was owed to me and my children (who are both grown adults now). My ex husband inherited a house that he put on the market. When it sold, the DA put a lien on the house and guess who got the first cut of the profits? I did. My suggestion to all struggling single parents who are going thru that same fight? File your case with the DA's office. They keep track of everything and it NEVER goes away. Not only that, it collects interest. If you sit back and wait for your ship to roll in without researching your options, you're going to be waiting a long time. Companies like SupportKids are the wrong way to go. They may collect money for you but they take 34% (or at least that is what is use to be) off the top and send you the rest. The DA's office doesn't make a profit off of your case, they fight for you for FREE. When they cut my check it was for the full amount that was owed.

I started my blog to put Supportkids out of business and get out of my contract. Both were accomplished. Supportkids has since been bought by another company and have proceeded to do business as usual. During that time (when the company was bought and in transition with the new owners) was when I put up the biggest fight and won. Supportkids was going out of business and the new company was clueless. I started my blog in 2007. 4 years later, I'm out of my contract with Supportkids and received full payment of my back child support. That may seem like a long time but is it really? Not compared to the years I spent trying to collect the money.

The DA's office have come a long way in their battle against "Dead Beat" parents that refuse to help support the children they helped produce. They suspend Drivers Licenses, refuse to issue Passports, deny the offenders the right to leave the country, and put liens on assets. If you try to take on this battle alone you will fail. Everyone needs help. What's the first step? You must get your case started with the DA in your area. The moment the non custodial parents refuses to pay, do something about it. The system does work. If you are currently trying to get out of your Supportkids contract, read some of my previous posts. There are a lot of helpful hints and other parents with great advice. Times are tough. You need to find your back bone and stand up for your rights. There is only one word to describe what you need to be and that is unrelenting!

1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your
carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.

2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in
your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window
to make my return a little easier.

3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste... and taste means
there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always
make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.

4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I
might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes
you to remove it..

5. If it snows while you're out of town, get a neighbor to create car
and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead
giveaway.

6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don't let your
alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it's set. That
makes it too easy.

7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the
windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom - and
your jewelry. It's not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.

8. It's raining, you're fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to
lock your door - understandable. But understand this: I don't take a day
off because of bad weather.

9. I always knock first. If you answer, I'll ask for directions
somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don't take me up on it.)

10. Do you really think I won't look in your sock drawer? I always check
dresser drawers, the bedside table, and the medicine cabinet.

11. Here's a helpful hint: I almost never go into kids' rooms.

12. You're right: I won't have enough time to break into that safe where
you keep your valuables. But if it's not bolted down, I'll take it with
me.

13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm
system . If you're reluctant to leave your TV on while you're out of
town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the

8 MORE THINGS A BURGLAR WON'T TELL YOU:

1. Sometimes, I carry a clipboard. Sometimes, I dress like a lawn guy
and carry a rake. I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.

2. The two things I hate most: loud dogs and nosy neighbors.

3. I'll break a window to get in, even if it makes a little noise. If
your neighbor hears one loud sound, he'll stop what he's doing and wait
to hear it again. If he doesn't hear it again, he'll just go back to
what he was doing. It's human nature.

4. I'm not complaining, but why would you pay all that money for a fancy
alarm system and leave your house without setting it?

5. I love looking in your windows. I'm looking for signs that you're
home, and for flat screen TVs or gaming systems I'd like. I'll drive or
walk through your neighborhood at night, before you close the blinds,
just to pick my targets.

6. Avoid announcing your vacation on your Facebook page. It's easier
than you think to look up your address.

7. To you, leaving that window open just a crack during the day is a way
to let in a little fresh air. To me, it's an invitation.

8. If you don't answer when I knock, I try the door. Occasionally, I hit
the jackpot and walk right in.

WASP SPRAY

A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was
concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them
when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police
department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she
get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a
lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too
close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds
an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a
can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from
people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at
home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of
use.

Just like Redhatty, I received the e-mail below today. OK, let me get this straight....Supportkids sold our contracts to RJBA, who then sold them to ParentFinancial Services, and they in turn reclaimed the original name Supportkids?? Whats really going on here?? Obviously RJBA and ParentFinancial were getting no where legally so they bought out Supportkids or was it just the name they bought? Im sorry, this is ridiculous and I cant believe its legal. RJBA didnt own my contract, neither did ParentFinancial. I think they are throwing out a line hoping someone will take the bait. It stated there was a direct deposit form attached, there wasnt. You've gotta give ParentFinancial some credit, they appear to be a little better with the smooth talk. However, my contract was sold in May to RJBA. I have the proof, which made our contract together null and void. I never signed up with RJBA nor did I sign up with ParentFinancial.

For those parents that really need this service, I wish you all the luck in the world. I, on the other hand, do not. I set up this website to put Supportkids out of business. I tried for many years to terminate their contract. I have a call out to my SK source to see what is really going on. The way she described SK was a company that had no idea how to figure out arrears and who kept no record of what was actually owed. I'm sending out another certified letter. I will be enclosing a copy of my original termination letter, a copy of the proof that my account was transferred via the letter from RJBA, and the certified receipt I got back. This battle is far from over. Did anyone else get this? And while your at it, check out this post by another unsatisfied customer.

DF Michael, my sons Steven, Brad, and I went to see Avatar last night. What an awesome movie! Despite the heavy crowds, we were able to find pretty good seats. Considering the line went out and around the building, that wasn't an easy task. We also decided to see it in IMAX 3D. I can honestly say, the 3D thing wasnt really a necessity. Nothing came flying out at you, it just made the picture a little cooler. The premise of the movie is as such:

In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

The visuals were amazing, the story was original, and the acting superb. I loved the story. Some say there was an underling meaning. I dont know about that. If you just watch the movie and appreciate if for what it was, you are sure to have a wonderful experience. When a 2 1/2 hour movie comes into theaters, alot of people wont bother seeing a show that is so long. However, I didnt feel like I had been sitting for any real length of time and all of the movie goers were well behaved considering there wasnt an open seat in the house. I give this movie 2 very big thumbs up. A definite must see!!

I think happiness is something you decide. You can either live your life miserable or except what it’s given you and make the best of it. We all have our ups and downs. You wouldn’t be human if this wasn’t the case. Misery, on the other hand, loves company. If you have ever been around someone that is always unhappy, it brings you down. You can try your best to change their perspective but I think it’s a decision they make. Some people like being that way. Chronic complainers are also a challenge. You know the type, nothing ever makes them happy. How do they get like that? My depression comes and goes and it generally coincides with a certain time of the month or a particular time of the year. The holidays, especially Christmas, can be hard for me. I lost someone very important in December and it just hasn’t been the same since.

Life is tough. We have things we regret but learn to make the best of it and move on. If your life is always filled with “what if’s”, who is busy living your “now” moments? Trying to make everyone happy all the time can be exhausting. Have you ever heard of negative energy? It’s a vibe a person puts out and it radiates through a room in no time. If you think you have a problem with this, try looking at life a little different. Have you ever thought about what you have instead of what you don’t have? When was the last time you gave thanks for your blessings? Everybody has them. Are you employed? Do you have a roof over your head? Is your fridge stocked? Are there people that love you? Don’t focus on the negative but rather, make the best of what you have. We only have one chance here on earth. Why not make the best of it? What could you possibly have to lose? Try smiling next time you feel bad. Its surprising how much better it can make you feel.

11. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

12. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

13. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

14. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

floor with one breast wedged under the rear tire of the car.. Ask a

flattened and chilled... Turnover and repeat with the other breast..

EXERCISE THREE:
Freeze two metal bookends overnight. Strip to the waist.. Invite a
stranger into the room. Press the bookends against one of your
breasts. Smash the bookends together as hard as you can. Set up an appointment
with the stranger to meet next year and do it again.

Paranormal Activity...a must see movie!!!

I have a very high tolerance for scary movies. Most horror flicks these days are either redone versions of the classics or are so predictable it isn't worth my time. I found this movie by accident. While searching the movie listing for date night, I came across Paranormal Activity. I don't remember seeing any commercials or advertising for this movie. Why? Its not playing in every city or state for that matter. The people in my town must have demanded it because its showing in two theaters. How do you get it in your town? Demand it! Go to this website and hit the demand it key. The premise for the movie is as follows:

After a young, middle class couple move into what seems like a typical suburban “starter” tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to. These are no name actors (meaning I have never heard of them before) that do a great job at making you believe what they are experiencing is real. This is the first time I have been scared at the movies in quite a while. The ending...well, lets just say OMG!!! Its a must see movie. If its not playing in your city don't forget to demand it. It's the perfect time of year for a scare like this.. LOVED IT!!

There is nothing worse than going someplace and getting crappy service. With the economy the way it is, you would think that companies would go above and beyond to get your business. Case in point, last weekend. DBF Michael and I went to San Pedro for Lobsterfest. I made the reservations 6 months is advance and booked us a suite at Crowne Plaza. When we arrived, we were told by a flighty receptionist that our room had been bumped. She left us standing there for 15 minutes while she researched the problem. After returning, we were told that the airlines had booked suites for their pilots and they weren't scheduled to leave until 11 o'clock that night. WTF? She then down sized us to a mini-suite and only took 16.00 dollars off the tab. We are not off to a good start. One of the things we liked about this hotel was that they offered shuttle service. When we went down to the lobby and asked for a shuttle ride to the fair, we were told by the moron behind the counter that it would take 15 minutes. After waiting patiently for 20 minutes, I went back in the lobby and he was no where to be found. I asked the next available person how much longer we would have to wait. After consulting with another moron that spoke little English, we were informed that we would have to walk even though there were 4 shuttles sitting in the parking lot. They didnt have a shuttle available to take us to the fair. I was mad.

We get to the fair and try to make the best of a messed up situation. This weekend was not off to a good start. After walking around, we wandered into a restaurant that sat on the bay. We sat at a table for a half an hour and no one bothered to take our order. I had to go to a manager and find out what the problem was. He then signaled a waitress who proceeded to take our order. BTW, she made us feel very unwelcomed by her attitude and body language. Her excuse for not taking our order, she thought someone else was helping us. Mind you, this girl walked past our table at least 20 times and didn't even look our way. It took forever to get our food and a life time for a refill on drinks. Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip. When we got back in to town, we stopped by our favorite restaurant the Elephant Bar. It was so nice to be home and loved. We had drinks on our table within 5 minutes, and food another 10 minutes after that. Not only will we never stay at another Crowne Plaza hotel but that restaurant by the bay (I wish I could remember the name), will never see another dime from my wallet. Companies are shutting their doors daily. I suggest they go to their local Elephant Bar and learn how people should be treated. Shame on you Crowne plaza for treating your customers like crap. If I stop one person from staying at your hotel, I have done my job!!

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

District 9 - Dont waste your money!

DBF Michael and I went to see District 9. I have to admit, I had my doubts when Michael first showed me the trailer. After seeing the reviews from the Yahoo Viewers and the Critics, I decided to give it a shot. There is only one thing to say, the Critics must be smoking dope because it was awful!! The background for the story is as follows:

In 1982, an alien ship stops directly above Johannesburg, South Africa. Reports suggest the ship became stranded after a command module separated from the ship and dropped to Earth, nowhere to be found. After cutting their way inside, a team discovers a large group of malnourished and leaderless arthropod-like aliens. The creatures, whom they derogatorily call prawns, are taken from the ship and housed in a government camp inside Johannesburg called District 9, which eventually turns into a slum. In the first decade of the 21st century, Multinational United (MNU), a private military contractor, is placed in charge of policing and relocating the 1.8 million aliens to District 10, a new camp 240 kilometers northwest of Johannesburg. Wikus van de Merwe (Sharlto Copley) is an MNU field operative assigned to manage the relocation operation. During the process, he gets sprayed with something the aliens made and he begins to turn into an alien himself.

About 20 minutes after that, we decided it wasnt going to get better. Not to mention, they shot it like an old documentary so the picture quality was total crap. The story, although original, ended up being completely stupid. I cant believe they are still putting butts in the seat for this movie. They must have read the same reviews we did. This is the last time I listen to the Critics. Their taste is obviously all in their mouth.

I give this movie 2 thumbs WAY down.....dont waste your money!!

Dallas company buys SupportKids of Austin
ParentFinancial to relocate to Austin.

An Austin-based child-support collection company has been sold to a smaller Dallas-based company that operates the same type of business.

SupportKids Inc.'s caseload, computers, intellectual property, Web site and other assets now belong to ParentFinancial Services Inc., said Rob Feito, president and CEO of the Dallas company, on Friday.

Feito declined to disclose the terms of the deal, which closed Aug. 7.

SupportKids was purchased to expand the 8-year-old Dallas company, Feito said.

"Our intention moving forward is to operate in 35 states," he said.

But the immediate goal is to ensure that there is no negative effect on clients, he said. The Austin company once operated in 47 states.

"This is a positive transition for SupportKids, for its clients," Feito said. "We don't anticipate any disruption in services."

SupportKids encountered financial difficulties earlier this year. After defaulting on a loan, it was forced to turn over 20,000 of its 38,000 child-support collection cases to a New Hampshire-based law firm. The cases had been used as collateral on the loan.

ParentFinancial will continue to honor that contract, Feito said.

ParentFinancial, which will move its headquarters to Austin, expects to hire 25 to 30 former SupportKids employees, Feito said.

The Austin company once had 200 employees but laid off an undisclosed number when it lost the 20,000 cases earlier this year.

Some of the first rehires will include workers who have been working without pay, Feito said.

SupportKids CEO Bryon Sehlke and some other executives also will work for Parent-

Financial, Feito said.

Sehlke was unavailable for comment.

Depending on growth, more people could be brought on board next year, Feito said.

How to get out of your Supportkids/RJBA contract

I just received an e-mail from a former Supportkids employee. There is some interesting information you all need to know that may help in your fight to gain control of your child support. Here is a quote directly from the letter I received:

The fastest and easiest way to stop Supportkids is by pulling your change of address with the state. Almost every state, except TX hates SK and will do this over the phone. This also makes them crazy because it takes time for them to reinstate it. As long you continue to change it to your address there isn't much SK or RJBA can do about it.

That is easy to do. I did it by going directly thru my State's government website. It took about 5 minutes. This person also had some informative information about RJBA:

RJBA has never had any experience with child support in any way shape or form. They bought paper, with no clue what to do with it or how to enforce it. They are clueless with customer service, payment processing and enforcement and at the time I was there had no intentions of setting any of those departments up. They didn't even know what computer software SK was running or how to operate it. RJBA is a basic credit card collection agency, specilizing in 3rd party debt in a warehouse type office. There is not one employee who has any clue about Child Support and the laws!! They didn't hire me, thankfully, and I have experience with the very paper they bought, so who did they hire? They couldn't have had many who applied who actually worked with SK and had my experience. I doubt they had any. I interviewed with them and in the interview, red flags were waving in my head.

The person that contacted me said she/he will answer questions about SK. I'm waiting to get an OK from this person to release the e-mail address.

I knew RJBA was a hoax. They didn't have a permit to collect child support when they took over. Its a shame that so many have fallen victim to their inexperience and lack of compassion for the cause. Not to mention, they are collecting 34% for a job that they have no idea how to do. I hope this enlightens the struggling custodial parents out there. Act fast and change your address. I wouldn't tell the DA that you were with SK. Tell them you are filing a change of address and see how it goes. They didn't ask me anything when I changed mine. I will keep you posted.

Premature Ventricular Contractions or PVC's

Among the many different types of irregular heart beats, few have created as much confusion and frustration among both doctors and patients as premature ventricular comtractions (PVCs). In various doctors’ offices, and at various points in history, PVCs have been regarded as either precursor of impending death, or as completely benign phenomena that require no attention whatsoever.Patients who feel entirely well tend to think their doctors are a little nuts when they recommend aggressive measures in response to finding PVCs on a routine ECG. Patients who are plagued by PVC-induced palpitations regard their doctors as being cruel and heartless when they refuse to entertain therapy for such a benign condition. What's a patient to do?

I started having PVC's almost 3 months ago. They showed up out of nowhere and have yet to go away. What happens when a PVC's hits? Your heart skips a beat. With me, I can tell when they are going to start. Its hard to explain but I have a strange sensation in my chest. Almost like a pressure. Then, its like a very strong palpitation. Almost like you had too much caffeine. When you feel your pulse, you can tell when your heart stops and starts again. Its pretty scary. My EKG was normal and the holter monitor showed PVC's but I already knew that. What did my doctor do about it? She told me to drink plenty of water (I drink 6 to 8 glasses a day), get lots of rest (I sleep 7 to 8 hours a night), and cut down on the caffeine (I only have 1 cup of coffee a day). I dont know how a person that was normal 3 months ago can suddenly be plagued with such a scary, irritating, and confusing condition.

There are many people out there going thru the same thing that I am. How do I make them stop forever? When they aren't happening, I'm normal and have no other issues. When they happen, I'm waiting for my heart to stop forever. The cardiologists weren't concerned enough to see me after my holter monitor. They referred me back to my primary physician. I don't understand. How can they say there is nothing to be concerned about when your heart stops and restarts itself? That cant be normal. The only thing this has made me think about is making a living trust so that if something happens, my family will know my wishes. I'm only 42 years old. I recently lost 55 pounds. I exercise on a regular basis. Why did this happen? True, I have a high stress level but that is a part of every day life. I feel hopeless. I recently ordered a book to help me deal with this problem as it appears to be here for good. If it helps, I will give you a full review. Until then, if anyone has any suggestions or experience with PVC's, please share what you know.

The Supportkids/RJB Conspiracy

As many of you have read, Supportkids sold out to RJB because of a bad loan. It left many parents scrabbling to try and save the child support they were getting. We received a farewell letter from Supportkids, and a welcome letter from RJB. When most of us attempted to contact RJB, we were unsuccessful. Voice mails were left as well as e-mails, and they all went unanswered. The moment I found out about the transaction, I notified my DA's office in California and sent a termination letter via certified mail to RJB. My blog was used by struggling custodial parents to communicate back and forth about their experience. At the time of the transfer, RJB was not licensed to collect child support. I think many parents ended up falling thru the cracks. They were left bewildered and exasperated by the whole experience. No one was getting any explanation from either company as to what actually happened.

Id like to know the status of the parents that were having issues with their state offices. Has anything been resolved? One mother had money collected and directly deposited into an account but no one could answer for the whereabouts of the funds nor which account they were deposited into. I'm praying that the issue was resolved and her funds were found. I have continued to get my child support directly from the DA and I know some others were successful too. This needs to be the case for all parents that signed up for Supportkids.

Does anyone have any new information to share for the thousands of parents still suffering at the hands of the Supportkids/RJB conspiracy?

Nutrisystem works. I lost 55 pounds!!

I started Nutrisystems last October and had lost 48 pounds by April. I was getting burned out on the food so I decided to try things on my own. In 2 months I've lost an addition 7 pounds. To date, I am keeping it off. The scale hasnt gone down in a couple weeks but it's not going up either. To get a true concept of what 55 pounds of fat looks like, I surfed the net. I found a picture of 100 pounds of fat and I cut it in half. When you look at it sprawled on a table (that is 50 pounds in the picture above), it looks pretty massive. I remember Oprah losing a bunch of weight a few years back so I went on her site to see if there was a picture. Do you remember when she wheeled out a wagon full of the weight she had lost? It was 67 pounds. So I guess I have lost a little less than a wagon full, or 12 pounds less than whats in the wagon.

Many people will say Nutrisystems doesnt work, they hate the food, or the company is a rip off. I didnt have any bad experiences. The only adjustment was my will power and my portions. If you follow their plan, you WILL lose weight. Dont forget your water. Is the food gourmet? No. Isnt gourmet food what got me where I was to begin with? OK, maybe not gourmet but definitely fast food. We ate out quite a bit and I never drank water. I tend to be a stress eater so I was always munching. I had no one to blame but myself. I must confess, I was scared to go off the plan because I thought I would gain it all back. It appears, I actually learned something. In the 7 months I was on Nutrisystems I taught myself how to say no, to walk away from temptation, and to get daily exercise. I have substituted their food for lean cuisine. I still drink my water and get exercise at least 5 times a week.

It cost me $234 a month to be on the Nutrisystems flex plan. I ate their food during the week and was on my own during the weekend. I think thats what helped me stay on the plan, if I had to do it 7 days a week I would have quit. I went from a size 26 to a 14. I even have 1 size 12 pants so it can be done. I have finally lost the 54 pounds I gained with my first pregnancy 21 years ago. I feel great. My energy level is so high now, its actually funny. And another thing I noticed, I was always hot before. The fan on my desk at work was constantly running. Now, I never use my fan and I rarely get overheated. Its amazing how my life and attitude have changed.

Dont give up on yourself if you really want to lose weight. It can be done. For all those people that bad mouth Nutrisystems, I want you to know that I am their biggest fan.

Michael Jackson died today of cardiac arrest in a house he was renting outside of Los Angeles. It was reported that he was dead before he made it to the hospital. They tried to revive him for an hour with no luck.

Most people my age grew up listening to his music. I was once a big fan, then after the allegations of molestation, I quickly lost interest and respect. However, he was a very talented singer. While listening to his music on all the radio stations coming home from work today I realized how long he has been around. He was only 8 years older than I am. Life really is too short. Treasure what you have and be thankful on a daily basis. Im sorry that he didnt get the help he needed both physically and mentally. God bless his family and may he rest in peace.

Supportkids Complaints

As many people have read, Supportkids is out of business. Wait, or was it that they kept all the accounts that don't make money and gave the ones that do to RJBA?? How could that be possible? They were hurting for money to begin with and then defaulted on a loan. I believe that was the story we were told. My question is, if they couldn't keep the accounts that kept them afloat then how can they stay in business when they gave our cases away as collateral to RJBA? I'm not sure if we will ever know the true story. RJBA doesn't return calls or e-mails. Ive heard they are rude, nasty, and make threats to parents in search of their payments that have been received but not distributed. And Supportkids appears to have washed their hands. Nice job guys!

There is hope though. I sent a termination letter almost a month ago and had the account information thru the D.A. switched over to my own account. I did that at the state disbursement website. This particular website is for California only.To date, I have received two payments directly from the D.A. for the full amount. Alot of mothers have been working their butts off to stay on top of things and for some, it has paid off. You must be unrelenting and find out the laws in your state. Anyone can be a victim but Id like us all to be victorious in our fight. If you have any information to share regarding this situation, please keep me posted.

UP 2009...what a great movie!!

Last weekend, DBF Michael and I went and saw the movie UP. Not to mention, we did the 3D version. Wow, what awesome graphics. The story started out a little dark so I wasn't sure where they were going to go from there. It didn't take long before I realized they were going straight up!! There were tons of laughs throughout the movie. Although, I wouldn't expect anything less from Pixar. I don't think I have heard Michael laugh that hard at a movie in a very long time. We went without children (well, I only have a 17 year old left at home so technically without my child) and I was surprised that the majority of the viewers were adults.

If you haven't seen the previews, here is a brief description of what the story is based on. By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip. They come across some funny and evil characters along the way. The way it all tied(no pun intended) together was perfect. I would definitely give this movie two thumbs up. This is one we will definitely add to our movie collection.

As a result of a recent loan default, Austin-based Supportkids Inc. was forced to transfer a portion of its child-support collection cases to a New Hampshire-based law firm.

Supportkids CEO Byron Sehlke said Supportkids unloaded 20,000 cases to Richard J. Boudreau & Associates on May 14,

leaving Supportkids with 18,000 cases, many of which are nonpaying.

"This was not our decision," Sehlke said.

Boudreau & Associates didn't respond to a request for comment.

Supportkids, a for-profit company that collects money from parents who are behind on their child-

support payments, said in a letter to clients that the organization was unable to refinance a loan with an unnamed lender.

As a result, the lender handed over the cases, which Supportkids had used as collateral on the loan, to Boudreau & Associates.

Sehlke called the situation "a function of the credit crisis." He added that the company, which has laid off an undisclosed number of employees, remains in transition but will continue to serve its remaining clients and accept new ones.

Affected clients of Supportkids were told in the letter that Supportkids no longer has current information on their cases and that Boudreau & Associates has their case files and should be contacted with questions or for new information on their cases.

Supportkids had tried unsuccessfully to reach a cooperative agreement with the lender and Boudreau & Associates to arrange for a transition period, so the company was not able to notify clients in advance of their cases being transferred, the letter said.

Supportkids charges an initial $475 case development fee and takes a 34 percent commission on overdue child-support payments. When it accepts a case, it requires that the parent who is behind on the payments send the money to the company, which takes its cut and forwards the balance to the parent who is caring for the child or children. Sehlke said the company takes only the toughest cases.

Thank You Mr. Eaton for the low down on our situation. They cant use our child support as collateral against a loan default. Its against the law. Basically, they are using their 34% from our child support to pay their debt. And FYI Michelle, if they say that they will hold your money and refuse to pay you until their direct deposit form is signed, that's extortion.

RJBA and the Supportkids Out of Business Saga

This is what I received in the mail today. I have a few things to say. If the contract is legally binding, why do they need a conference call between me and the DA's office? Wouldn't they just send a copy of the contact to the DA's office rather than have me give the OK? If it is in fact legally binding. On the copy of the direct deposit form its states something very alarming to me:

By signing below, I hereby agree to have any child support arrearage payments deposited into my bank account with said number as shown on this form/check. I authorize Richard J. Boudreau & Associates, LLC and/or its agents or ASSIGNS TO RECOVER ANY FUNDS ERRONEOUSLY DEPOSITED INTO MY ACCOUNT THROUGH A DEBIT FROM MY ACCOUNT.

So, not only would you be giving them access to put money in, but take it out. Am I correct on this one? Recover funds Erroneously Deposited into my account? They plan on making errors on the deposits before they even have the job? RJBA claims to be an attorneys office. I think they are full of crap. They did not send a new contract for me to sign. What Im getting out of this is that by signing the direct deposit slip and having a conversation via conference call with RJBA and the DA, Im basically giving them access to my money. I dont think so. By the way, what happened to the one payment they got from the DA on 5/18 before I was able to change my disbursement? Where is my money?? I dont know about you guys, but this company does not sound right. Anyone else get one of these?

The last statement is what really grabbed my attention. I thought maybe it was saying we were on our own now. No such luck. After thinking about what is being said, I have concluded its telling us good luck with RJBA. Got it!

Also, regarding RJBA. I have heard a number of complaints regarding a person that works there named "Pam". One of them really made me made. In Laurens words:

Pam, kept jabbing at me about how I chose to live my life etc, none of which is relevant to collecting my past due support. In our last verbal phone battle she actually told me 'she would have to think about how much more of HER company's money she was going to spend on this case, or if she was going to put this on the back burner'.

Excuse me?? How much more of HER companies money she is going to spend?? First of all, it is our child support that kept SK in business and would continue to do so for RJBA when our cases are forwarded to them. Second of all, who is she to talk to any of us that way? They are not a child support enforcement agency, they are a collection company. We dont owe them anything. Our debts are because of dead beat parents that refuse to pay child support. We didnt take out a loan and are refusing to make payments. The money comes to us from THEM secondary to the DA (for most cases) collecting on our behalf. It appears that PAM needs to get off of her soap box and remember who she is working for. Its just another reason why I wish they were in my state. Id love to see these people face to face. I guarantee they wouldnt be talking to any of us that way if we were upclose and personal. She hides behind a phone line and thinks that this gives her the right to treat people in that manner. Shame on you RJBA for hiring a person with such poor customer service skills. We are not the enemy, we are the victims (for lack of a better term). You are trying to collect money for us, not from us. It appears that PAM has never been in our situation. If she had, Im sure her attitude would be completely different. Although, I guess it all depends on the person. Where's the compassion?? I think that's what is missing from both of these companies.

As many of you know, Supportkids have gone under. We have been instructed to call a new company, Richard J. Boudreau & Associates (RJBA) and they can be reached at 1-866-997-2449. So, how many of you have contacted this number? I left a message on Friday and still haven't heard anything back. They also gave an e-mail address of childsupport@rjba.com. Well, Ive tried to get a response that way as well with no luck. On Friday after I got the news, I contacted the DA's office. I would like to give a special shout out to the staff at the San Bernardino District Attorney, Child Support division. They have been nothing but helpful. I was instructed to write a letter stating I no longer wanted Supportkids handling my case, I took a copy of my ID, and faxed it over. I got a call today from "Barbara", who told me that Supportkids was having my money directly deposited into their account. Oh no, I thought, what now? I dont remember approving my money to be direct deposited into anyones account. The DA's office said that this is how it works when you sign their contract. Figures!! I was then instructed to log onto www.casdu.com (for California, your state will have its own site) and change my direct deposit information. The DA's office gave me my account number, which is something you will need. After you log in, go down to the bottom of the screen where it says "Set up Direct Deposit." Change the information in the state disbursement to your own account and you are set!!

Id also like to add something to this post. This is dedicated to all the people that don't think single parents deserve nice things. Why not? Just because the non custodial parent refused to pay on their own, does that mean I have to live my life in poverty? Am I really undeserving? Ive spent MANY years supporting 2 boys on my own. My oldest is now in the Navy and just returned from Iraq, my youngest is graduating from High School next month. For a very long time I robbed from Peter to pay Paul. My kids did without alot of things. They never knew the stresses I dealt with on a regular basis or the tears I shed for bills I could not pay. Now, I own a home of my own. I took a home improvement loan out so that I could make my house into something I was proud of. Then, I get these idiots making nasty remarks because I have nice things. I pay my mortgage like everyone else. Who are they to pass judgement on me? Supportkids kids doesn't pay me enough monthly to cover half of my mortgage yet these same people say that Supportkids paid for my pool?? Or my new stove?? What's wrong with this picture and why are these people so filled with hate? Dead beat Dad maybe? The $300 dollars a month I get from them (or should I say got from them) did not make or break me. However, alot of people depend on every penny of that court order for their survival and that of their children. I learned to live without it, I had to. That does not give any company the right to feed off of the desperate. I put information on this site to help other parents. This is not a chat room or a forum for people to lash out. This is my blog that I started 2 years ago to fight Supportkids. I don't have time or patience to deal with people that have nothing better to do that surf the Internet for a fight. If you don't like what I write, move on. If you dont have something helpful and pertinent to the discussion at hand, dont say it. Ive done a great job raising 2 men and I did it for 10 years without child support. I will tell you one thing, I know neither one of them will end up doing to their children what their father did to them.

Take the information I have and use it if you need to. If you are happy with the services provided to you by Supportkids or the company that will be replacing them, more power to you. Im not here to change your mind, Im here to help the people that need it. Unless you have walked a mile in any of our shoes, you dont know shit about this topic. And the bottom line on that one is, I could care less what you have to say and neither do the rest of us.

When I got to the school at 5:30 AM, this is what I found....

Yep, you have to camp there to get Home Side seats...I guess I didnt get the memo on that one!!

You wait in line just to get a ticket to be in line. 4 1/2 hours later, I got tickets on the Visitor side of the field. They sold out of home side seats 20 people before me. I started this blog to warn people about Supportkids. They are a company (or should I say WERE) that fed off of desperate single parents trying to get child support. I opened my case in 2002. Since then, they have taken over $25,000 dollars from my kids and I. Every time I tried to terminate my contract, I was denied. Several people have responded to my blog with horror stories of their own. We all had the same question, what can we do to stop them?? Well my friends, I think our ship has finally come in. Thanks to a fellow victim Redhatty, I was just informed Supportkids is no longer. Yes, thats right!! I hope that my blog and experience has had a hand in putting this company out of business. I cant tell you how relieved I am that the thousands of single parents struggling to make ends meet might finally get a break. They were allowed to do what they did for far too long. Its about time that someone stepped up to the plate and did something to put them out of business. I have contacted them (RJBA) via phone and e-mail regarding my case. This development is very recent as I just logged in on Tuesday and the information above was not posted. Where have I been?

As many of you have noticed, I haven't been posting like I use to. There are a couple reasons for that. 1st of all, I dissolved my contract with Divorce 360. I got tired of writing about relationship issues when I wasn't having any, and after 2 years, it just got old. Not to mention, I was constantly chasing them to get paid. It wasn't worth it to me anymore. Secondly, I have been remodeling my home. My stress level these days has been off the charts. Work is hard (especially lately) and home is complicated when you have to live your life around contractors so I havent had much rest. Although, last weekend for the first time in a long time, I relaxed. We have 3 contractors coming to the house on Monday to do 3 different things and it all starts again. It took me 6 weeks to get my kitchen back, now my bathroom is going to be gutted and new doors for the house are being installed. Not to mention, I have a son coming home from Iraq on June 8th and my youngest graduating on June 10th. Did I tell you Ive been planning a party as well? I cant wait to breathe. After this next stint with the contractors, I'm gonna give it a rest for a while and enjoy my oldest sons visit home. That includes a week off from work. Thank God! I need to find medium ground someplace so I can gather my thoughts. I don't even sit down to watch television for any length of time these days because there is so much to do. I know I will get thru this but right now, life is tough.

I would like to give you an update on my nutrisystem progress as well but that will come later. I may be stressed to the max but I look fabulous!!! I just have to remember thru all of this what my Mom tells me on a regular basis: "This too shall pass." I certainly hope so. However, I enjoy my pool when I can and I cant thank my jacuzzi enough for helping the tension leave my body **heavy sigh** I will keep you posted!

Beware Direct TV

Last August I cancelled my Time Warner cable and signed up with Direct TV. Why? The NFL package. I wasn't thrilled about satellite TV but I thought I would try it. We were promised On Demand, (which was always my favorite feature with my digital cable) so we signed up. We were told at that time that there would be a $150.00 dollar early termination fee. That's fine, I don't plan on cancelling my service so I agreed. Upon receipt of the service, I was immediately turned off by the HUGE satellite they nailed to the roof of my house (yes, nailed). The thing must weigh 100 pounds. Then, when the service was installed, there was no On Demand. They hooked the system into the phone line but my computer wouldn't work once their line was in. That was my first sign. I could never find the channels I liked, you couldn't order pay preview because of the installation and when it snowed, our service went out.

I cancelled with Direct TV roughly 2 weeks ago. I told them we weren't happy and had signed on with FIOS instead.When I called they told me I would be charged an early termination fee and that I had to mail the receivers back to their company. Wait!!! What about the satellite nailed to my roof?? The girl told me we could keep it. What?? I don't understand. So, you hook up satellites to all these houses and when the service terminates, you just leave them? Yes. OMG, you must be joking? I asked the girl what I was supposed to do. She said they didn't expect me to get on the roof and take it down so I should just leave it there. Really? What kind of company is this? Today, I received the final bill. It wasn't $150.00 dollars, which was my agreement but rather $320.00 dollars. Now I know how they pay for all of those missing satellites they are too lazy to take down.

I quickly called back to inquire about their mistake. The rep told me that I had signed on for 24 months and that they were charging me $20.00 dollars for every month I no longer wanted their service. I requested a copy of the signed contract showing proof that I agreed to this, he said he would mail me the agreement but that my signature was not on it. However, when I signed up for the service they requested a credit card. If you don't pay the bill, they will get their money anyway. They give you fraudulent information over the phone and via TV but its not what you sign up for at all. A coworker was charged $300 via invoice and they charged her credit card an additional $300 when she called to cancel. Direct TV is a horrible product and I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. I have no problems paying the $150.00 but they are ripping people off by changing their terms and charging more fee's. Just one more company out there screwing the consumer into believing what they say is true. In the end, its all bullshit. Never again!!

Vitamin water...Friend or Foe?

I tried Vitamin water a couple months back because I watched a show about this stuff and they said it was fabulous. They stated that there were vitamins in every bottle. I didn't drink one every day, just once in a while. Last week, I bought some on sale and drank one daily. I developed a migraine by the second day. It was so intense, I ended up going to the doctor because I thought something was seriously wrong. She gave me a shot for pain and took me off work for the rest of the day. Not putting two and two together, I continued my ritual of drinking the Vitamin Water for 5 days straight. I chose different flavors for every day. When Friday came around and my headache was still there, I started to get scared. I tried to assess my week at a glance to see if I had done anything different. The only connection I had was the water.

I then read the ingredients. Do you know, most of them contain way over your daily recommended allowance of vitamin B? A friend of mine had an issue with being vitamin B deficient so I did some research about vitamin B toxicity. Migraine headaches were on the top of the list. I was also having weakness in my hands and when the doctor took my blood pressure, it was 102/70. That is a bit low. Those were also two other side effects to Vitamin B toxicity. Every morning when I get up, I take a multivitamin. I was topping this off with an abundance of the different forms of Vitamin B found in these drinks so my body started to rebel. I don't think people realize how dangerous vitamins can be when they aren't monitored. Also, I thought I was drinking a healthy water substitute. Come to find out, it has 125 calories and is filled with sugar. Not the best thing for a dieter. I'm not saying that this water is bad for everyone, but my body definitely put up a fight. Be sure to read your labels. If you start feeling like something is terribly wrong, start with the obvious first. That being said, I strongly recommend Propel. It tastes great and it isn't packed with a bunch of stuff that your body doesn't need. We get our daily vitamin B intake from the foods we eat. Taking a substitute isn't even necessary. No more vitamin anything for me except my trusty multivitamin daily. I've learned my lesson!

I have read alot of different information on the Internet about Nutrisystems. Most people are bad mouthing their program. The only good thing Ive heard is that Marie Osmond lost 45 pounds. Some say its caused them hair loss, gallbladder issues, and basically that the food tastes like crap. I'm here to tell you the truth about my experience.

Is the food gourmet? No, its not. I have yet to taste any diet food that you would choose over regular food given the choice anyway. There are things I don't mind eating, and there are things I would never order again. I have found that choosing your own menu is the only way to go. I like the hamburgers the best, followed by most of the pasta dishes except spaghetti. That was gross. The lunches aren't bad but its gets old. Especially after 5 months. The plan works though. I'm down 42 pounds. No pain, no gain...right? As far as gallbladder issues, I haven't had any problems. Usually people who are extremely overweight (100 pounds or more, which wasnt my problem) tend to have problems with the gallbladder if they lose weight to fast. Case in point, gastric bypass. I did have one problem about 3 months ago but I have no idea if it had to do with the diet. I got a kidney stone. When I asked the Urologist if it was secondary to my diet, he said probably not because I hadn't been on the plan that long. However, I did start to consume massive amounts of water. That may have triggered the passing, no one really knows though.

The thing that scares me the most is gaining the weight back. I eat regular food on the weekend because I'm on the flexplan and I'm averaging about 2 pounds a week. I decided that if I start to gain any weight back after going off the plan, I will jump back on until my body stop rebelling. Ive heard the slower you lose, the better chance you have at keeping it off. I hope thats true. All in all, its a diet plan that works and a heck of alot easier than having surgery. When you are researching a plan to try, look into everything. Hear what others have to say and then make your choice. I do the same thing when I want to see a movie. I never listen to the critics, only the viewers because they are usually right. If losing weight was easy, we'd all be skinny. You just have to figure out what you can handle both physically and financially and go for it. Right?

Dating and the single parent

When I got married 20 years ago, I thought it would be until death do us part. 2 kids and 7 years later, it didn't work out that way. You're thrown back into the dating scene with one change, now you have children to think about. I have met alot of men in my life, dated quite a few, and learned some hard lessons. There are alot of men that take advantage of single mothers. These are the guys that come into your life, put you up on a pedestal, and end up being unemployed. You never really think about it in the beginning. There are warning signs but you don't pay attention to them because he makes you feel special. That's just one example. Some men are married, some just looking for a good time, others that treat you like crap. It seems we tend to eat alot of crow because we are single mothers and want to be loved. With us comes alot of responsibility. Its usually easier to date a man with kids because they are a little more compassionate but not always. Bachelors at heart have a hard time converting to the family life. Dinner at 5, baths at 7, and in bed by 9. Mommy doesn't get her alone time until after the kids are in bed. By then, we are usually exhausted. Its a tough role but in the end rewarding.

In my life I have chosen a few "bad seeds." Only a few real regrets but it worked itself out. When your children get older it makes dating alot easier. Not because teenagers are easier to deal with but the babysitter issues doesn't come into play. We are put in the middle quite a bit and its a rough place to be. On the upside, you don't tend to put up with the crap from men that you use to when the kids were younger. You are alot more choosy. I think that's where the problem lies. It doesn't matter how old your kids are, you should always make the right choices. If the guy isn't willing to share you with your kids, move on. I had a guy take me to Disneyland once and didn't invite my kids. He was very self absorbed and immature. Being a parent makes you grow up so its alot easier to spot these men. Why? They act like your children. I'm not sure what the point to the post is except to say, men that take advantage of single mothers are dawgs and don't settle for second best because of your situation. There are way too many fish in the sea (too cliche'?). The Universe has a strange sense of humor sometimes but I honestly think what was meant to be will someday be. And just because you have babies, children, teenagers doesn't mean you shouldn't be with someone that makes you happy. Being a parent isn't a death sentence, its just means when you make a decision its for more than yourself. We all deserve to have fun, date, and find the right "one." Don't let being a single parent stop you from that. If there is a will, there is always a way!

My guilty pleasure of the week....Broccoli. My family and friends never thought there would come day that I would eat Broccoli, let alone love it. True, I had to do a spell check on the word because it wasn't in my vocabulary until about 2 months ago but man am I glad I gave it a second try. Not only does it taste good but there are only 19 calories in a serving. For those of us that are trying to lose weight (almost 40 pounds down now), this was a wonderful addition to the menu. My favorite way to eat it is steamed. I also think its cool the way it turns from a deep dull green into a beautiful shade of green when its cooked. Did you know this veggie is available all year round but is best from October to May?

Here are a few more reasons to add it to your diet. Broccoli (one cup chopped) contains 90 percent RDA of vitamin A, 200 percent of vitamin C, 6 percent of niacin, 10 percent of calcium, 10 percent of thiamine, 10 percent of phosphorus and 8 percent of iron. It also provides 25 percent of your fiber needs and to top it off, five grams of protein. Ive also heard it can help prevent cancer. If that isn't enough to make you want to become a lover, then I'm wasting my breath. I went from hating it to eating it at least 3 to 4 times a week. The only thing I don't care for is the smell while its cooking but hey, that's what Febreze is for right? So I confess, I have definitely gone over to the other side. Those of you who decided long ago that you would be a hater, I suggest trying it again. People change...Im proof of that!!!

Wells Fargo finally came thru. It took them 5 months to lend us the money for the upgrades to our house. Thanks to my Mom's knowledge, persistence, and patience we are finally ready to start our journey. Now what? I have found that its not going to be as easy as I thought. You have to rely on the skills of other people to get what you want. Estimates take days, sometimes more than a week. Let me ask you this question. How many of you have had the company rep come back for more information with booze on his breath? Can you say red flag? Hello, what was he thinking?

We have decided to go with separate companies rather than one for everything. Why? Everyone has a skill that they have mastered. I don't think a person that remodels your bathroom can necessarily put in a central air and heating unit. Considering we are still waiting for the dollar amount from our first quote, that decision may change. The bathrooms are first on the agenda, then the kitchen. In the mean time, we want to get the central air put in and get a quote for the pool. Its taken so long to get the money, I lost my momentum. No worries, I will get it back. I wanted a pool put in before my son gets home from Iraq, which will be roughly 3 months. It can be done, right? Until then, we are doing some major spring cleaning that involves multiple trips to the dump and a lot of hard work. I cant wait until its done. My house will be beautiful!!! Lord give me strength for what I am about to endure and give me the patience to deal with the stress of waiting on other people to fulfill my dreams. Amen!!
