What?! You mean Cinderella's stepmother doesn't count? LOL Great post.

My TT is all about things I wish I could do.

I forgot Diney doesn't like mothers LOL! Scary stuff when you think about it.

Yeah, what's up with that? But at least the moms aren't eeeevil like the stepmothers (who also get killed off, but nobody cares). It's just now occurring to me; it's ALWAYS the women.

Great list!
I wont let my kids watch Dumbo or Bambi. I'm still traumatized by them.
Great TT

a) you have really wonderful pics on here
b) there may not be a Disney movie that does not have a dysfunctional family..lots of issues

Disney is the root of all evil ;)

huh!!! and they call it kid-friendly/family-friendly movies!!! how ironic!!! but i'd still like to say HAKUNA MATATA!!!

I thought Bambi's Mom dies at the very start...that flick traumatized me as a child, but didn't cure me of the Disney addiction :-)

There you go...didn't read it right :-) You're right...Roy Disney had serious mommy issues!

I came up with 13 more !!!check out my TT

Here's my theory:
If they had mothers, there would be no story! Snow White's mother would have protected her from the evil stepmom, Nemo's mom wouldn't have coddled him so much so he was forced to do something stupid like venture out into the deep blue, Pinocchio wouldn't have lied lest he disappoint Mom, Aladdin wouldn't have had to steal for food, etc.... Get the picture?
Look at all the vulnerable/troubled orphaned heroes/heroines in romance novels!

I think Wylie is right, if they had mothers there wouldn't be as much drama. My TT13 is up at http://anyapples.blogspot.com/

Now if they'd gone for fatal illnesses they'd have won a few best picture Oscars. But they went for killing off mothers that many times and still it hasn't sunk in that the academy doesn't like it ;-)

What a great idea for a list! I remember being completely traumatized as a child by Bambi. Those Disney movies are not as sweet and innocent as they seem. Thanks for pointing this out to everyone!

I never thought of this, except for Bambi, because Mom is pretty much killed on screen there.

Lots of witches in Disney movies too.

Neat list.

I still remember when my mother read about Bambi, when I was a little kid. OMG - I did cry - when the thruth came clear after the forestfire...

Well, here's the deal - the urban legend says that Disney was an adopted child and has abandonment issues. This has not been proven, yet also has not been formally disputed. It appears to be a big family secret...so who knows. It is no difficult to see that the majority of his movies deal with loss / abandonment by family!

I never noticed that before either.

All those dead mothers are one of the main reasons I'm not crazy about Disney movies for my kids.
