TT #57

13 things you should never order on the first date.

1. Spaghetti - No need for explanation on that one.

2. Hamburgers - It can be very unattractive to show your date how big your mouth is when you bite into one of these monsters.

3. Tequila shots - You want to make a good impression, not dance on the tables.

4. Oysters - This may make him think you are a horn dog and he might be expecting something a little later.

5. Dessert - You don't want to make a pig of yourself. Wait until the 5th date to show him your true colors.

6. Mexican Food - Without the Beanos. There is nothing worse than trying to get romantic with someone that has gas!

7. Anything with chunks of big, black Pepper - Try smiling at your date and having a little something in you teeth that you don't discover until your trip to the Ladies Room.

8. Salad and Water - Come on. They know you eat real food. You aren't fooling anyone.

9. Crab legs - How do you get that meat out gracefully?

10. The biggest Steak on the Menu - This has a completely different effect than the Salad and Water.

11. Indian Food - That you have to grab with your fingers and shove in your mouth. That just isn't lady like.

12. Avoid Buffet's - but if you do go, don't have multiple plates and try not to pile too much onto one. You can always stop by McDonald's later if you're still hungry.

13. The most expensive meal on the Menu - True, this can be fun but you don't want him to think you're in it for the money. Give him reassurance that he can afford to take you out (by ordering something sensible) without draining his wallet.

On my very first date with my now husband, he ordered Oysters and I laughed myself silly. Then on the night he proposed to me, he ordered crab legs in black bean sauce and managed to sling shot black beans down the front of my dress and into my bra. I did actually say yes when he proposed over desert and we've been married now for 13 years. Happy TT.

Honestly I'm trying to remember where my husband and I went for dinner on our first date *asks hubby* ok, I feel better, he can't remember either, it must have been okay though, we're going on 3 years (though now we're arguing about the timing of other stuff LMAO!)

In other words...
Be sure to eat before you go out to dinner LOL

My wife ordered spaghetti on one of our first dates but I married her anyway!

Great list! My hubby and I have eaten our way through Houston together, and I taught him HOW to eat raw oysters...woohoo...but no, not on the first date! In addition to your list, I would have to say, for guys (do gals EAT ribs? hehe), "Don't order ribs until after you're married." Ugh. It's still upsetting to watch...but in a funny way! =)

Thanks for stoppin' by and commenting on my list too! Happy TT!!

I'm afraid I always used to eat steak on every date.

No spinich either. The stuff always gets wedged between teeth. LOL!

Mama mia, no spaghetti! I read your thought about oysters and thought about a man I know who is allergic to shellfish. Now that would make for a memorable date. Maybe the thing to order if you know a guy has allergies and you're fed up with the date!

Very funny, my first date days are long gone, but I still appreciate this list... I would add never order fried chicken... greasy hands- yuck!

#6 also isn't that good for the breath, either. (Trust me!) Funny list, and thanks for visiting my TT.

Wow I think I 've had first dates where the lady's broken all of these (except the booze since I don't drink). Now truthfully I don't mind if a woman orders the most expensive thing on the menu. If things don't work out the evening should be worth it just for the food if nothing else.

Phew! I've never made any of those mistakes! Oh wait - except dessert. Chocolate is a big part of my diet, and I need a man who is okay with that from the get go! :-0...

Great TT this week!! :-)

I had a hamburger on the first date with my husband. We split the french fries.

Even though I've been married for thirty-four years, I love this list. It is the best I have read so far.
It is also appropriate for first buisness lunches or dinners. You want to make a good first impression on a client as well.

Okay, so what can I order? Hopefully, I will have a first date again, when I am ready. :)

I agree with most, but I do tend to order dessert. However, I will get a small meal specifically so I don't feel bad about ordering sweets after - and that way, I'm "showing my true colors" as it were from the start. =)

Happy TT!

I just finished a jalapeno pepper stuffed with feta cheese - I wouldn't recommend that on a first date either, although delicious.

Sadly, I have made the Tequila mistake:P

cute list! I would be scared to order tequila, I would be on the floor.

Thanks for visiting my TT.

Good advice! Recently a Denver radio station had a conversation about this...spaghetti was #1 on the list as the worst date food.

About finding how people find you. I use statcounter.com. It's easy to install and you can check all sorts of things from how people find you to where they're located (by region).

But if you're not enjoying your first date very much it might be fun to try some of these things.
