A Tribute to our Soldiers.....

I would like to pay tribute to one of our fallin soldiers. His name is Spc. Clinton C. Blodgett, 19, of Pekin, Ind., and he died May 26 in Baghdad, Iraq, when the vehicle he was in struck an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. I have a son that will be 19 next month, I think that is why this soldiers name caught my attention. He was fresh out of high school and went right into the world of combat. God Bless him and his family. Although he paid the ultimate price for our freedom and the freedom of the people in Iraq, he will never be forgotten. If you would like to pay tribute to a fallin soldier, please visit some gave all. I urge everyone to participate, no matter how you feel about the war.

Cute cloth diapers....its the wave of the future!

I was cruising the net the other day and I came across the cutest website. Its called cottontailbaby. They have all types of cloth diapers, cloth diaper covers, and natural family living products. They carry a large selection of accessories as well as cloth menstrual pads (What??? how does that work and is it more trouble than its worth???), pregnancy test strips, ovulation test strips, and baby wearing products. They have a little bit of everything...it almost made me want to get pregnant just to shop there!! (NOT)...lol. Don't get me wrong, I loved being pregnant and I love my children but my youngest will be 16 this year so I'm done!! I have talked to quite a few mothers and mothers to be on my blog so I thought they might want to check this out. I remember back in the day, my Mom use to put cloth diapers on my younger sister but I thought they were a thing of the past. These people have come up with the cutest ideas and designs. I don't know if the cuteness outweighs the convenience of disposable but its worth a look!!

Supportkids Payment Processing...whats the hold up?

I sent Supportkids an inquiry on 6/16 to their processing division regarding a question on a payment. That is standard protocol when you have an issue regarding your money. I forgot about the inquiry because it has sense been answered by someone else involved in my case, however, I just got a response on 6/23 from the department that was responsible for my inquiry. The response is just in time for me to be questioning the status of my next payment that was sent to them on 6/18. It pissed me off that it came 8 days after the fact. Good thing I wasn't holding my breath. Let me first state that if you call their customer service line at 512-437-6025,( notice a toll call for existing customers only, new customers get an 800 number) it will tell you that they are pleased to announce your payment will be generated within 48 hours of receipt. Now, let me give you their response to my question regarding status:
The date on the payment is 6-9-07. This date represents the date the payment was received in our post office. It is not the date we released the payment or posted the payment to your case. We know this can be confusing. The reason we use the date that the payment was received at our post office is because the non-custodial parent must receive credit for the payment when it was received. In order to give you a good estimate of when you should receive a payment is to look at the date of the payment, 6-9-07, and count 6-7 business days from that date. This is usually when you will see the payment in your account.
OK....if they didn't have the check in hand, how would they know when it got to their post office?? The payment takes 4 days to get to them from the source. So, if a payment was sent to them on 6/4 and received on 6/9, why does it take 6 to 7 business days to post when their customer service line says within 48 hours? Now, let me also clarify that it takes an additional 3 days to process once its posted. So in reality, it takes me up to 14 days to get a payment from the time it is sent to them. I know when my direct deposit goes into my account from my job, it posts the next day. I don't get it. Saying 48 hours, to me, means 2 business days, not 6-7. Isn't that false advertising?? I wish they would just terminate my contract so I don't have to deal with the bullshit anymore. Not only do they delay payment, they take 34%. Ugh!!! 5 years...Supportkids is making bank on my son!!

Supportkids....what a joke update.

I have a response to "Supportkids...what a joke" that came directly from Supportkids. I thought since we are telling them what crooks they are for taking our money, I would post their response along with another pissed off parent. The guy that responded to this(from Supportkids) needs to not toot his own horn quite so loudly. As you can see by the response at the end of this blog, I'm not the only one fed up, BTW-if you want to read the whole story, its in my February blog archive. However, I just got the new response today. First, a word from the company themselves:
Lori:I am an employee of Supportkids, and I’m sincerely sorry that you are disappointed with our services. We’ve helped over 50,000 parents collect their child support and most are very thankful for the help they’ve received. Our average client has gone over four years without receiving any support and is typically owed in excess of $30,000. From your blog it sounds like you were actually owed more than that, which means the other parent either wasn’t paying or was only paying sporadically when you came to Supportkids. I guess from our viewpoint, we would consider our work for you to be an outstanding success since you are now receiving regular payments. I wish we could speed up the checks you receive, but we simply can’t get them to you any faster considering they are traveling by mail.Yes, Supportkids does charge a fee for its services, but it is a contingency fee which means clients don’t pay us unless we collect. I’ve heard our clients say over and over that it’s better to receive 66% of something than 100% of nothing. I’m guessing you thought the same thing when you signed up with us. Regarding our contract, we do try to explain our fees as clearly as possible. For example, your contract says on the middle of the first page in the same size type as the rest of the contract: “The Amount I Will Be Charged for Supportkids’ Services – I will pay Supportkids 34% of each payment received until all of the Specified Amount has been paid. . .” We try to make that unambiguous, because the last kind of client we want is one who doesn’t understand the contract. That makes for a difficult working relationship. Now, I hope I haven’t upset you with my response, since that’s not my intention. I share your frustration with the payment processing times and you are not the only person who has voiced that concern, and the concerns have been heard loud and clear by us. You will be interested to know we are working on a process to receive payments from California by electronic transfer which will greatly decrease the time it takes for the funds to be sent to Supportkids. We are also developing the technology to then send payments to you via direct deposit. So, I hope you will try to be patient with us as we work on these solutions to better serve our clients.I want to applaud you on your new blog, and I think you make some excellent points in your most recent entry entitled “The statistics are unreal. . .” Your conclusions are supported by the federal Office of Child Support Enforcement which reports that parents in the United States are owed over $106 billion in unpaid child support and that each year almost half of the nation’s child support cases don’t receive any payments at all, which translates to over 8 million children without any support.I wish you luck with your new blog, and hopefully with cooperation from the State of California we can resolve your payment processing concerns.
Here is the response to my blog:
I wonder if this employer would hire supportkids for himself? Yes they did state that their fees would be 34% of every payment. But why should you get 34% when you guys aren't doing anything. We paid a finder's fee for you to locate the NCP parent. I was told that you guys go for lump sums and liens so those fees with acceptable to me. All supportkids did for me was find my NCP so that he could start where he left off. Now they are taking 34% of my payments just to sit there... That's not helping our children.. Yes 66% is better than nothing but your not doing anything differently that my local child support agency would do for free!!!!
If there is anyone out there with some legal expertise regarding this issue, please contact me. Obviously there is a big problem going on with this company and single parents need to know what they can do.

Ex Wives Club

Last night while I was flipping thru the channels, I came across this show at 9:00 on Channel 7, KABC. I have one word to say....WOW!! What a great show. It's based on people that are newly divorced and it helps them get back on their feet emotionally, physically, but I'm not sure if they help financially because it was the first time I watched it. I'm not particularly fond of the 3 women that host it, I actually feel it a bit comical that Shar Jackson is on there. If you don't know who she it, its the ex girlfriend of Kevin Federline. She went running back to Kevin after he and Brittany divorced, so having her do the show is kind of hypocritical. There was even rumor that she is pregnant again with his baby(some women never learn). One of the others is Donald Trumps ex mistress then wife. I'm not sure who the third girl is so I don't have an opinion, yet...However, what they do for people on there is awesome! They send them to workshops to help with their anger and depression, give them complete make overs, and last night, one of the girls got to blow up her ex husbands boat..lol. I think its a very interesting concept and something I could see myself getting in to. If you have nothing better to watch on a Monday night, tune in to channel 7. It may have some helpful hints if your currently going thru a divorce.

Another unsatisfied customer...thanks Supportkids!

I received this letter last night from another client of Supportkids and I wanted to share it with all of you:

Hi, Lori!
I saw your post about Supportkids, and let me tell you, I know exactly how you feel! They are total crooks and need to be put out of business. I have been through six years of hell with them and I have had it. After doing some research, I have found out that they have ripped off so many people. They have kept so much money from me that they were not entitled to. My original contract agreement with them was for $5200 in back support. They have collected almost $18,000 from my son's father and still claim that my contract isn't up. Bastards!! :) Well, I am not going to take this crap from them and I am going to do everything I can to cause them some grief and to get my money.

Please contact me and tell me your story with them. I am looking for as much ammunition as I can to use against them.

If there is anyone else out there that wants to share their experience, please feel free to contact me.

My boyfriend and I watched the movie "Next" on Friday, and I have to tell you, I was so disappointed. Nicholas Cage is one of my favorite actors but I don't know what he was thinking with this one. I normally like Jessica Biel as well but her performance in this was awful. It was an interesting idea but, once you started watching the movie, they lost the plot and half the audience before the first hour was up. It was so far fetched, even in the land of make believe, this one was out there. Don't waste your money. The cast was great but they couldn't even save this flick. Go and see Knocked up instead, its worth the money.

Bullying in the workplace....

The definition states that bullying in the workplace means: "Persistent, offensive, abusive, intimidating or insulting behaviour, abuse of power or unfair penal sanctions which makes the recipient feel upset, threatened, humiliated or vulnerable, which undermines their self-confidence and which may cause them to suffer stress" Ive noticed that since becoming a single mother, I've had to put up with a lot more than I did when I was just taking care of myself. I hate it when people abuse their power. Its happened to me on more than one occasion with more than one employer and I cant figure out why?? Maybe it's because they know we have to feed our children so we have no choice but to put up with the abuse. Its not fair. Single parents are hard workers and they rarely take time off unless its an emergency, yet they are used and abused because of their desperation. We fight the system to get assistance, we fight our ex husbands/wives or ex boyfriends/girlfriends for money to help support our children...why should we have to battle in the workplace or be fearful of constantly losing our jobs because of a boss with an ego trip? All we want is to be the best parents we can be, teach our children right from wrong, and give them what they need to lead a happy, productive life. We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round. You cant call off sick at home if your a single parent because your children always need you. Its terrible when your fearful at your job because your dealing with people who abuse their power. Bullies are insincere, haughty, unreliable, and lack empathy and sensitivity to the emotions, needs, and preferences of others whom they regard and treat as objects or instruments of gratification. If your a single parent and feel that you are being abused in your workplace, I encourage you to step forward and report the behavior. We have enough to contend with in every day life, dealing with a bully should be the least of our worries. There is a fine line between being bullied and harassment (or is there???). If you don't get the answers you need from Human Resources, consulting with an attorney might be your next step.

Here are a couple websites to help with your research:

"It's not right!" shouted Hilton, who violated her probation in a reckless driving case. "Mom!" she cried out to her mother.

Hours earlier, the 26-year-old hotel heiress was taken handcuffed from her home in a black-and-white police car, paparazzi sprinting in pursuit and helicopters broadcasting live from above. She entered the courtroom disheveled and weeping, hair askew, without makeup, wearing a fuzzy gray sweat shirt over slacks.

She cried throughout the hearing, dabbing her eyes, and her body shook constantly. Several times she turned to her parents, seated behind her in the courtroom, and mouthed, "I love you."

I just wanted to do a quick kudos to Heather at Supportkids. She called me back regarding my problem, she was nice, and didn't make me feel like my problem was an inconvenience to her schedule. She treated me like a single mother that needed help, and thats how it should be. She got all of the info I needed on my account and a payment was posted. Time Warner Cable.....Where's the service we pay for?

I don't know about the people on the East Coast, but alot of us on the West Coast get our cable from Time Warner, formerly Adelphia. Now, I remember a time when cable first started. The service was great, the employees you spoke to over the phone were friendly, and your wait time to talk to someone was virtually nothing. Since Time Warner bought out Adelphia last September, the service has gone to hell. On Demand was one of my favorite features. Something that my son and I use on a regular basis. Recently, that service has had numerous issues and the people at Time Warner don't seem to care. I keep getting a error code of 463. Hmmmmmm, I say to myself. I wonder what that is??? So, I place a call to the cable company. I wait 50 minutes on hold for someone to answer. Its ok, Im not too frustrated at this point...I mean, what else could I be doing besides waiting on hold for 50 minutes as single mother???(lol...the laundry, the dishes, watering the lawn, making dinner-you get the idea) Anyway, I get this gal on the line who isn't even from California. She tells me her office is in Colorado..OKKKKK. Why dont they have offices located where I am?? Why are the problem solvers in another state? That doesnt make me feel secure about this whole ordeal. I have to go out of state for help with my cable? I then proceed to tell her my problem (long pause, keystrokes in the background) she then tells me she has no idea what a code 463 is...ALRIGHHHHHHHHT, what now?? She informs me that she will contact her main branch office, alert them to the problem, and they will see what they can do. That was 3 weeks ago. I've tried to call back on numerous occasions and get the "ALL CIRCUITS ARE BUSY" message...ya, I imagine. More satisfied customers, huh? Im still having the problem today. They promised us better service, they told us we meant something as customers yet they do nothing to improve their product. What happened to the Adelpha way of doing things? When big businesses buy out the little guy, something always gets lost in the translation. We the consumer always end up getting the shaft. The prices increase and the service is terrible. At this point, I am looking into a different form of cable entertainment. Its a shame that Time Warner cares so little about their customers that they do nothing to improve our experience. I pay $100 dollars a month for crap. Maybe they should stick with what they know and stay away from our cable TV!! Shame on you Time Warner!!

Supportkids....What terrible Customer Service!!

I'm writing this blog because I'm angry. I have written in the past about Supportkids, but it appears that if I'm not consistent in my raves, nobody cares about my payments. They received a check for me a week ago that still hasn't posted to my account. In their advertising, they claim that they will process payment and have it out to you within 24 hours. This is a complete LIE. I have contacted Yvonne Devany 3 times in the past 4 days via e-mail, and she hasn't seen fit to respond. All I wanted was status on my payment. Their Customer Service is so terrible, they don't even give me the time of day. After my past issues, they finally set up Direct Deposit. Well, once they get it, it takes 4 days to process, then, an additional 3 days after its posted to get the money. If there is a weekend in there, tack on another 3 days...hmmmmm, now then, whats wrong with that picture? If they are advertising a 24 hour turnaround, and it takes 7 days to process anything, then isn't that false advertising? They try to pull you in with their phony promises, then once your hooked and the contract is signed, they don't care about you or your child. As long as they have their money. I'm telling you now as I told you before, DONT HIRE SUPPORTKIDS. They don't care about the kids, its all about lining their pockets. They feed off of the desperate and make you play by their rules no matter what their advertising says. At this point, it would be easier for all of you out their seeking assistance to go thru your local DA's office. At least you would get your full child support payment and not have to cough up 34% to these crooks.

If you see this logo or hear about them on TV, run the other way. Supportkids was the biggest mistake I ever made. Don't let it happen to you!!
