Yep, there are a few things we'll only buy as name-brands. Even the generics can't compare.

Great list! :) Thanks for sharing!
Mine's up too:)

Sometimes, you just have to go with the name brands!
Great TT!

Hey, I am a single mom too! I did not know if you knew that already. Maybe I'll raise a wonderful son like you did. He's seven now and my best buddy!

Sara Lee ee bread is my favourite too. And might I say, no one should skimp on toilet paper!

Happy TT!

Interesting list - I so agree on the yoplait!!

I so agree with your subject (if not the actual products/brands). I'm all for Viva paper towels (white, and NOT select-a-size) and Classic Coke. I ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES! Great idea for a TT.

We're a Scott TP family and I am with you on some products just have to be name brand.

Happy TT! I'm with you on the mayo. My TT is up, don't be scared even if it *seems* depressing, week was rough!! LOL

Except for chocolate and shampoo I'm not that picky about brands. Most things I buy are off brand. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.

#2. My wife won that one.

I agree! Peanutbutter is a biggie for me. I refused to eat the generic stuff. Ick!

I agree with most, but generic toilet roll is good enough for me!

I'm with you on Best Foods, Dawn, and Crest...gotta have my starbucks coffee french roast strong...Happy TT

I have a lot of brand name obsessions myself...they're just different ones. I love quirky lists like this one; it's the sort of little insight you normally wouldn't get.

If it comes in generic form, I will buy it...I am cheap that way...or frugal they say :)

My Thursday Thirteen is up!

Hi there: Thanks for stopping by Colloquium.

Migrating to WordPress would be easier than you might think. First, buy a domain name and pick a host. I recommend Blue Host. They are really helpful and reasonably priced. From there, you can download the WordPress software, upload all of your Blogger content and put a redirect on your old stuff. Sweet.

What a great TT!!!

Such a good idea!

I'm a big of a brand snob with some things.. I just can't bring myself to buy some of the no name things!

Glad to know that this isn't just a quirk of mine.

And you're using the header I created! So glad other folks liked it. :)

I'm with you on the chocolate syrup. I tried an Israeli brand recently and all I can say is YUCK! (with big giant screaming capital letters)

Great TT - What about Icecream? I only buy namebrand (Dreyers) and my brother in law loves coming over because then he isn't eating icecream from a 10 gallon bucket.

Now that I think of it, I buy brands for your list too!! except for cinnamon gum...it's not available :(
happy TT!

Sometimes there just is no substitute. Happy TT!

I agree on toothpaste, spaghetti sauce, soda and mayo. Different brands, though.

I agree on certain things...but you'll find a lot of Brand X stuff at our house too. I'm with you on toilet paper, spaghetti sauce, etc.

Barbara said...

I am with you on #3 and #11. Good TT! I'm the same way as you - certain things are not the same as a generic or different brand. I suppose it's all in what we get used to using.

Mary said...

I'm with ya, there are just some things you can't substitute! My family favs are Diet Pepsi, Best Food Mayo, Secret deodorant, Ritz crackers, Lucky Charms, Craft Mac and Cheese.... there are probably a lot more. I try to scrimp and buy generic when I can to balance things out.

TeaMouse said...

Good list! I also have my list of items that have to be name brand and nothing else will do.

Great idea for a TT. I like cinnamon gum, but can't have too much or my tongue gets sensitive. I get Crest or Colgate toothpaste and sometimes Aquafresh. Great list. Happy TT.

Amy Ruttan said...

Yep there are some things that you just can't buy under a no name brand. Great list. Happy TT

I have some brands I only buy, too. Cottonelle TP, Helmann's mayo, Kraft mac and cheese POUCH, not powder, Stayfree pads.

I love having 7 kids! I'm hoping for more, and I do think I'm in my right mind, I think of them as a blessing, which is the way to think of them. One day the laundry will move out with them, its only temporary, and won't be that bad when my washer and dryer are fixed.

Any cheese product has to be name brand for me. Happy TT!

Susan Demeter said...

Coffee is the only thing I am a real stickler on. I really like my brand. Great list idea, and happy TT! :)

I always buy Coke! Great TT list!

Spy Scribbler said...

I'm the same with Miracle Whip. Only Miracle Whip will do!

Happy TT!

impwork said...

I used to only use crest because it wasn't as over the top minty as other toothpaste but I've not seen anywhere selling it for ages.

erin said...

I would add tissue to that list, as I recently bought a generic brand and discovered that saving a few cents isn't worth nose chafing. :) Happy TT!

Joyismygoal said...

Miracle Whip and honey wheat all the way

Thanks for coming by my blog, Lori. :)

Do you know how I can contribute headers to TT other than the link on the header page? My mail client isn't set up to follow the link so I need the actual address. I was just wondering if you've seen the email address written out while exploring other headers.

No problem if you haven't. Just thought I'd throw it out while I came to say thanks.

Happy TT,

~X

I agree with you on most of those.

I will only by brand name TP, toothpaste, ketchup, and peanutbutter. Everything else is fair game for the bargan stuff!

Dorothy said...

Yep! Gotta be Miracle Whip, Hersheys, and Dawn

L^2 said...

I'm usually not that picky about brand - I tend to go with whatever's cheapest, but yes, there are a few things that I'll only buy name-brands of too - toothpaste is one of them.

Anonymous said...

I'm quite particular about such items as well...especially toilet paper. Hubs will only use charmin.

Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke? Why don't we have that over here?! :-)
Thanks for visiting my Mabon TT.
