13 things a mother should teach her son

1. How to treat a woman.

2. How to be a good parent.

3. What dishsoap is for and how you use it.

4. Toilets dont get clean on their own, you have to scrub them.

5. How to cook.

6. Washing machines arent hard to use...just watch me.

7. You can reuse a cup more than once. Thats what water is for.

8. Changing the sheets on you bed is a good thing.

9. Always shower and brush your teeth. Women like that.

10. Its not always about you...learn to listen.

11. If you cant say something nice, dont say it at all.

12. If a girl says no, she means no.

13. A full trashcan should be emptied without someone telling you.

I think both boys and girls need to know that, except the girls dont really need to know #12, she already knows lol.

Happy TT!

Wonderful list, Lori. Just thinking the same can be said of mothers and daughters.

My husband is in his 40s and has no clue how to work the washer and dryer.

Great post. I agree that sons need to know these things. I'm working on Number 9 with mine currently.

#10 is the biggie. If only they'd listen!

Cool! Thanks for saving me so much time. Now that you've written the list I can simply print it out and hand it to my son (smile).

Bravo for number 12...actually all of them but Number 12 especially!

I think that all of these can conceivably be taught to sons and daughters. Esp. 2, 10, and 11.

Good advice there. Can't think of one I disagree with.

Hear hear! My husband was raised by a single mom who did just that, and we are raising our own son (and daughter) to be the same.

So very true indeed. Imagine how it would have been if every mother had done this from the beginning.... *jaw drop*

Great lessons to be learned. I hope every mom having sons read this! Happy TT!

Exactly! I've been teaching my boys these, too. My youngest is in charge of cleaning the bathrooms, and he's come up with a couple of slogans: No Klingons, and Down with Rebel Scum. Whatever works. :)

If he just gets half, he will be an exceptional hubby one day! Happy TT.

Besides "how to be a good parent" the rest I teached my son and unexpectedly it worked, lol !

I like it. I think I will print this out and put it up in my house. My boys are young, but it's never too early to start!

Great TT. I agree, we should teach the young men in our world to be more self sufficient. Then they wouldn't depend on their mothers or their wife's so much. I bet you it would save a lot of marriages. Thanks for stopping by my TT and take care.

That's a fantastic list! Any son who takes those to heart will make a great spouse someday. Some real wisdom there.
