Oops! You need not go much further. Good it's only 13 lists. That just makes me remind me that I'm old. (lol) Ha! Ha! Ha!
My T13 is up too.

Thanks for the memories. I remember 4 of these for sure.

Ah man, there are only 4 I don't remember. Dang it.

Happy TT!

Okay, I admit, I only remember 2 of these on your list. BUT, may I add I love the photography on your blog - very cool!

Never used a party line, and our glass milk bottles didn't have cardboard stoppers. I don't think.

But most of the rest of this brings back memories, absolutely.

Man, I was having a conversation about being older than dirt just the other day. Too funny that you use that phrase today!

(and I love the header. Perfect for your TT!)

I remember everything but #1.

I remember all but party lines. And I used to completely adore those tableside jukeboxes!

Not only am I older than dirt, I STILL eat a diner that has juke boxes on the tables...ok, they don't work, but STILL! Great list :-)

I remember when they came out with dirt-no where near as good as that good old fashioned muck....
Maybe you(-or-someone else that is a girl) can do a 13 on things us old people used to get in trouble for...like
yanking the rotary dial backwards when making a call
or
Cranking the dial on the TV too hard
and
stretching the phone cord to far
...and let us not forget the ultimate summer sin
Letting all the cold air out from running in-and-out of the house....
..almost as bad as throwing away a returnable bottle....

Janet said...

by the way, where did you get that T13 header? I LOVE it!!!

L^2 said...

Well, I'm not all that old, but I remember a lot of these. Then again I DO live in a very small town that has been slow to progress. :-)

I'm 34 but I do remember some of these things. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.

Oh Howdy Dooty, how did I get this old this fast. Great memories and yes I remembered them all....and you thought my memory was gone!

Oh, I am SO YOUNG!!

Thanks for visiting me :)

Um, i still have an Atari...and a Nintendo that my kids actually play. I have more records than the thrift shop [so it seems anyway] and I grew up listening to 8tracks [old ones, thank god, but still...]
Loved the little wax coke bottle thingys.

Your boys are so handsome...I hope they make you proud.

Oh my! I forgot that I knew about blue flashbulbs... isn't it funny how a little thing like that can take you back? I remember everything except 1 & 13.

My grandmother had a party line and I thought that was so cool.

Time flies, and yet it doesn't... we just don't realize how much we've left behind and how much is still in our memories! Nice trip down the lane!

I remember 3, 4, 5, 6, 9,11 and 12. Re #6 though, in England milk is still delivered daily in glass bottles, so at least remembering that isn't a sign of age!

Anonymous said...

I remember the candy cigs and the metal ice trays, also the party lines. Fun list!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Lori for visiting my blog! You sure have a funny list here. I had a laugh reading it. Happy TT.

4. Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles 5. Coffee shops or diners with tableside juke boxes 6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers 7. Party lines (I use to have so much fun on those)

Does this mean I am old as well? Heheheh... nothing wrong with that :)

Happy TT, Lori!

I remember a bunch of those.

I miss glass coke bottles.

LA Day said...

I must be really old because I remember them all but one. The one I don't remember I probably forgot because I'm older than dirt!

Robin said...

Yeouch, I remembered at least 10 of those!

Anonymous said...

I guess I am just starting to get old. I remember very few and then those are from my early childhood. I do remember my grandmother had those metal ice trays.

Darla said...

yikes. I remembered all but home milk delivery (we lived in the country--no milk delivery service), and Howdy Doody. So maybe I'm not older than dirt, just as old as dirt?? LOL

9, OMG, I remember 9! It was always so special to go to the gas station and buy a coke from the big metal monsters - grab you bottle incorrectly and the top would scratch your hand...it was such heaven to hold that tiny bottle in my hand :-)

On another note: Big supporting hugs for your Mom and your family. We're going through the same thing right now - although chemo day means she can eat something so looks forward to it. I'm keeping you and yours in my thoughts so don't think you're alone :-)

samulli said...

Huh, I seem to be younger than I thought - I don't remember most of that stuff. Haven't even heard of some of them.
On the other hand, maybe I just grew up on the wrong side of the planet.

PS: Love the header.

I didn't think I was all that old, but I remember a lot of that. No party lines, though.

Uh oh, I actually remember ALL of those...I AM older than dirt! I've been suspicious lately :) I actually think the coffee shops with the jukeboxes might have come out a little ahead of my time (maybe, not sure) but we did have one like that not too far from my house and I remember going there.

Happy TT

I remember candy cigarettes! I would buy them from the ice cream truck and I act like I was cool. The only diner I remember with a tableside jukebox is johnny rocket's-- and it is still like that! Blue fashbulbs sound a bit familiar! =)

Kathy said...

Confirmation that at the ripe old age of 36 I am older than dirt. My son has been telling me this for years.
Thanks for coming by to visit.

I used to think I was so cool when I had those candy cigarettes.

Happy TT!

I remember number 2 and number 3. I'm 23 now, but I did grow up in the boondocks in PA. So far behind the times back there.

Well I wouldn't say I was old but I remember 8 of those from when I was a kid

My G'Ma still has metal ice trays with the lever in her freezer. This list made me think of her. Nostalgic TT!

Mine has details about the Zombie Jebuses.

Put me down for the wax Coke bottles - gosh I loved those! - and 45s. I had an impressive stack of them and a ton of the little yellow plastic inserts that went inside of them. Now there's a memory!

I guess I'm ancient! I don't remember #10 ... must have been an American thing.

I hate to say it, but I remember all of these. Good heavens...I am old!! I also remember those candy dots on the long, white skinny sheets of paper that looked like they came out of an old adding machine!!
