13 reasons kids give for not doing their homework.

1. I forgot, is the most popular excuse in my house.

2. I swapped folders and I must have left it in the other one.

3. I left it at school overnight so I couldn't do it.

4. It was in my pocket and my Mom washed it.

5. My Mom thought it was trash and threw it away.

6. The sink was full of water and it fell in.

7. Someone told me there was no homework.

8. The dog ate it.

9. I thought it was due tomorrow.

10. It was put in the paper shredder by accident.

11. It's here somewhere, I can't find it right now.

12. It must have fallen out of my folder/bag.

13. And last but not least, What homework?

Okay, you caught me. Maybe there ARE a few things I'm not excited about with the return of school!

Oh I can't wait to hear these as my son is starting first grade in a few weeks. Thanks for stopping by and voting for me, I really appreciate it!

LOL. I heard those from my children too. My favorite is...I have no idea! Huh?

You must be living at my house! My oldest son Daniel has faught with me the last 3 days over his school work. When he is the one that has to write down exactly what his homework will be in his school journal. Or he gets 5 points deducted off the total grade if it is nothing close to what the teacher wrote on the board.

He has told me all 3 nights....I didn't right that. That is not the way it is or what the teacher wants me to do....

Great TT!

Ha!ha!...i hope my daughter does not use any of these (wishful thinking), she'll be in gr 1 soon!

btw, your boys looks so handsome.

Yep, we've heard it all before (and maybe said it some decades ago). I love the sunset photo, btw.

Do kids actually use the dog ate my homework excuse? I've always had dogs, but just never took advantage of that one I guess.

Happy TT and thanks for visiting my list. :-)

Except for the shredder one I think I heard all of these while raising my son. Go figure. Times change, but yet they don't. Have a great TT. :)

Well we are all over "the dog ate my homework" thing.
Great list!

I seem to remember using #3 when I was in school. It looks like #8 will never go out of style.

Hee, "the dog ate it" is a classic, as is "it was in my pocket and my Mom washed it."

Thanks for the smiles! Happy TT, and thanks for visiting mine!

Number 10 is definitely after my time! I always played vacant...'homework, there was homework?'

#2 and #12 were the most frequently heard refrains around here.

Then I got my daughter a cellphone, which we've since dubbed "the portable nagging device".

Good luck. /comfort

That's hilarious but then maybe because I'm not parent/teacher. Not sure would I be that delighted otherwise...

Cheers!

I'm afraid I used all of those too in my time... Not very original! ;-)
Thanks for visiting my BED TT!

Hey I remember some of those. But I only used them when they were legitimately viable.

Mostly...

Somewhat...

At least a few times...

And they all sound so plausible... Lol, I'm sure I used some of those when I was a kid.

LOL! Oh, I can hardly wait. Two more weeks, and I'll get to hear all these over and over again.

*sigh*

My son had a unique one, and I think it might have been true. He used to tell the teacher. "I did it, but it flew out the window". He sat near the window in his class and things would always fly out the window. Poor kid.

My son is starting first grade this year, I can't wait to see what he comes up with LOL.

LOL! #8 was a hilarious reason. I just hope my son doesn't get to use those excuses when he starts going to school.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my TT. I have to admit that crazy people can be fun to have around but they can be annoying too especially if you have to deal with them on a regular basis.

*hugs*

LOL these are great and I'm sure all have been said in my home at one time or another. Happy TT!

Oh no! I forgot about the excuses that come with school. Add to them getting up in the morning and...oh well. What can you do?

Spy Scribbler said...

Ugh. I hate excuses! I forgot is definitely my least favorite. Or if they had all week: "I was busy yesterday." As if that makes up for an entire week!

Happy TT!

Lori! You changed your profile pic! I saw it at someone else's blog and followed over here to see if it was you.

I generally did my homework and had a meltdown if I couldn't find it. Until graduate school. Then my favorite excuse was, "I know where to access the information, I don't need to have it on paper." As you might imagine, my professors were not amused.

Happy Thursday!

My daughter's first day of school and first year of school is this fall, I guess I'll have to be prepared for the future. Great list, happy TT!

I was a sped teacher for 3 years with a support study hall...heard most of these and then some. #1 deserves to be #1. I also hear that homework is stupid, and his grades reflect that! Thanks for the pre-school reminders, another reason for moms to love summer!

We got a dog in May. I'm waiting to hear #8. :)

Happy TT!

At my school the favorite excuse is "it's in my other parents truck".

I love the list! Though it makes me think I should have tried skipping out on homework more often!

very clever list. 'i didnt mean to' was the biggest used sentence in ours.... but then they grow up and you find out that it was true ;-)
